MAJ Charlie Beckwith, at left, CO Detachment B-57, 5th Special Forces Group, during October 1965 siege of Plei Me Camp. The camp was defended by 350 Montagnard mercenaries and a handful of US Special Forces men. The jarai trabe Montagnards were commanded by a Vietnames Army Captain. Their families lived outside the wire. |
